Invisalign is a way to straighten your teeth using a series of clear aligners
Your Invisalign treatment begins with a digital scan of your teeth. These images will be used to create your personal treatment plan and design your custom made aligners. You will be required to wear the aligners throughout the day, only removing them to eat, brush or floss. While the actual time frame may vary slightly, you will change your aligner trays to a new tray every seven to ten days.
As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move- little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to their final prescribed position. You’ll visit our dental office about once every four to six weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned and address any changes or concerns.
Metal braces were the first orthodontic treatment and are still the tried and tested method for straightening teeth and correcting facial asymmetries. They are a strong and durable orthodontic appliance made of high-quality stainless steel or titanium alloy. They can be more effective in treating overcrowding than aligners and are therefore more versatile for treating different cases. Metal braces also allow for more control in moving the teeth a little bit at a time in the specific necessities for the treatment of complicated cases.
Metal braces consist of metal brackets that are bonded to the surface of the teeth and a wire (an archwire) that runs through them which is held in place using o-rings ( rubber bands). These bands also play a key role in adding pressure to help move your teeth into alignment. Today, archwire bands come in a variety of colors, which patients can choose from when they are changed at each appointment.
